If Israel and Syria make peace, what happens to Iran-Syria relations?

Seymour Hersh's latest article has the usual array of juicy quotations.
While the article considers Israeli-Syrian relations and the U.S. role, I found the section on Iran most thought-provoking. If Israel and Syria inked a peace deal, what would happen to Iranian-Syrian relations? Some options:
- Syria would cut ties as a formal part of the agreement (I doubt it)
- Syria is already moving away from Iran and the desire for a deal with Israel is a reflection of that shift.
- Syrian-Iranian relations would not change
- The Syrians "believe they could be a bridge between Washington and Tehran" (in Robert Pastor's words). So Damascus would keep Tehran *and* Washington.
On a lesser note, Hersh did mention he was emailing with Assad. Maybe Obama and Assad could make peace via Blackberry? Does Bibi text?
