We will not stand for this

Israel Policy Forum is shocked and appalled by the column published in the Atlanta Jewish Times by its owner and publisher Andrew Adler calling for Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “to give the go-ahead for U.S.-based Mossad agents to take out a president deemed unfriendly to Israel in order for the current vice president to take his place, and forcefully dictate that the United States policy includes its helping the Jewish state obl

In an ideal world, if we were writing this up as a scenario we would say let’s put this all on hold, and everyone stays away happily and nothing changes for the worse, and we pick it up perhaps when everyone is stronger. But status quos are not status quos and people know that. They either get better – or more commonly – they actually get worse because they are left neglected. I fear that this status quo, over the next 10 or 11 months if there isn’t some very significant policy activity, will deteriorate into violence.

Netanyahu: "Jerusalem was always ours and will always be ours."

"Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish people," Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said last night at the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva at the traditional event held there for Jerusalem Day. "The city that was unified will never be divided again."

Ma'ariv reports:

Over 1,000 members of religious Zionism went to the yeshiva last night to mark Jerusalem Day, including Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, Education Minister Gidon Saar, Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman, Deputy Prime Minister Moshe (Bugi) Yaalon and Science Minister Daniel Hershkowitz. However, missing were a number of prominent rabbis from religious Zionism, apparently because of their claim that Netanyahu preferred to bring the Labor Party into the government rather than the National Union.

"You, the members of this group [religious Zionism], do so much to build the land and to defend it, in every sphere," said the prime minister. "Anyone taking a look at the IDF's command ranks can see that it is manned by members of religious Zionism and students from the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva. I salute you."

Netanyahu promised at the end of his speech that he would keep the capital safe. "No obstacle and no difficulty will prevent us from continuing to develop and protect the State of Israel and our eternal capital Jerusalem," he said. "The Western Wall and the holy places on the Temple Mount will always remain in the hands of the State of Israel."

A few hours earlier Netanyahu made similar remarks in a speech for Jerusalem Day at Ammunition Hill.

the Prime Minister

I am so impressed with this man. Our administration needs to take notes from him. If we value something, someone, or some place then lets not succumb to the pressure of world thought. Lets stand for something no matter what the cost. As I listen to Americans in coffee shops, in social circles and news outlets, many support the Prime Minister in his stance for Jerusalem.
