Israel Policy Forum Announces its Next Chapter with Middle East Progress

Dear Friends and Supporters of Israel Policy Forum:

On behalf of Israel Policy Forum (IPF), including our President Peter Joseph and Chair Larry Zicklin, I am pleased to inform you that IPF is embarking on its next chapter.

2010 Must Be Showtime for Mideast Peace

Assistant Director, IPF - NY

As 2009 draws to a close, we are bombarded by the annual litany of commentary features recapping the year in Hollywood movies to the year in international conflict, and everything in between.

When it comes to the Middle East peace process, current conventional wisdom suggests the 2009 recap might go something like this:

US-Iran Negotiations: Simulation Exercise at INSS

Ephraim Asculai, Emily B. Landau, and Tamar Malz-Ginzburg

INSS Insight No. 154, December 29, 2009

Despite the tendency to denote any simulation exercise on security issues a "war game," the recent simulation designed and held at INSS did not focus on the option of a military attack. Rather, it developed the scenario of a bilateral US-Iranian negotiation over Iran's nuclear program.

Secretary Clinton: She Already Is A Great Secretary of State

Well, that didn't take long.

Some hawkish Jewish leaders have now turned on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for daring to criticize Israel over the humanitarian aid to Gaza issue. She's not the Hillary we knew, they say.

Unfortunately for them, she is. They just got her mixed up with Tzipi Livni. Hillary is the Secretary of State of the United States, not Foreign Minister of Israel, or, let's be frank, a senator from New York.

Her job is to do what is right for America. And she understands, even if these "leaders" don't, that pursuing a policy that is good for America, that strengthens America, is good for Israel too. She is as pro-Israel as she ever was although some of these do-or-die hawks have never forgiven her for kissing Suha Arafat (just like Mrs. Rabin and Mrs. Barak) and tried to force her to the right of Dov Hikind to make up for it. Nice try, guys.

One more thing. Hillary is a mother. She has to be forgiven for being utterly heartsick about the suffering of the kids in Gaza, 400 of whom were killed in the war.

Everyone should be. .

MORE. Jeff Goldberg tells the "leaders" to chill. (He had better explain the term to them. They are in a permanent state of outrage over the "betrayal" of Israel by its best friends).
