IPF Letter in The New York Times

It is sobering yet productive that three distinguished Israelis are generating ideas despite the unfortunate but realistic conclusion that “a comprehensive peace agreement is unattainable right now.”

In Meeting, A Chance for A Regional Approach

Today, President Barack Obama meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after weeks of speculation about how the two countries will address the threat of Iran potentially obtaining nuclear weapons, and with little expectation for progress on Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking.  However, the Iranian threat – coupled with the historic changes of governments across the Middle East – could actually serve as a strategic opportunity for these leaders to address Iran while advancing regional democratic efforts alongside Israeli-Palestinian peace.

The Right Balance on Iran

Israel Policy Forum applauds President Barack Obama’s commitment to Israel’s security outlined in his address to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

TIAA-CREF response to "The Boycott Debate is Back"

Contrary to a post by Josh Smilovitz and David Halperin on Friday (The Boycott Debate is Back), TIAA-CREF did not sell our holdings in Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. in response to an open letter in September from some academics who called on us to divest from the company.

TIAA-CREF has not owned shares in Africa-Israel since before June, when they were sold automatically after Africa-Israel fell out of an emerging markets index tracked by one of our accounts. (Had anyone called TIAA-CREF we would have told them the same.) It was a routine sale, but some news organizations, including Haaretz, misreported it as a political divestment.

We are not divesting from holdings in Israel, and continue to invest in companies there and around the world.
