In Meeting, A Chance for A Regional Approach

Today, President Barack Obama meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after weeks of speculation about how the two countries will address the threat of Iran potentially obtaining nuclear weapons, and with little expectation for progress on Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking.  However, the Iranian threat – coupled with the historic changes of governments across the Middle East – could actually serve as a strategic opportunity for these leaders to address Iran while advancing regional democratic efforts alongside Israeli-Palestinian peace.

Top Reporter Says Bibi's National Security Adviser Is Banned From Entering US

Eli Lake, a top journalist on all matters Middle Eastern, writes in the Washington Times that Prime Minister-designate Binyamin Netanyahu's choice for national security adviser, Uzi Arad, cannot enter the United States.  He has been denied a visa due to his connections with Steve Rosen, the former (fired for insubordination) AIPAC employee indicted under the Espionage Act of 1917.

This could complicate matters for Netanyahu because Arad is one of Israel's most sophisticated and knowledgeable foreign policy experts.
