In an ideal world, if we were writing this up as a scenario we would say let’s put this all on hold, and everyone stays away happily and nothing changes for the worse, and we pick it up perhaps when everyone is stronger. But status quos are not status quos and people know that. They either get better – or more commonly – they actually get worse because they are left neglected. Letter to President Bush

Dear Mr. President:

As you embark on an important and historic visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories, we at Israel Policy Forum (IPF) are encouraged by your leadership and renewed commitment to realize the vision of two-states, living side by side in peace and security.

The international gathering at Annapolis was a critical step forward in order to achieve the goal of a peaceful settlement in 2008. Only with continued leadership from the United States, and your personal involvement, can we ensure a peaceful and secure future for Israel and Palestine.

On behalf of IPF, its National Board and nationwide network of supporters, we applaud your efforts and pledge to do all we can to strengthen and encourage support to achieve a lasting resolution to the conflict.

Sincerely,

Seymour D. Reich                     Peter A. Joseph
